1 - Lake Waconia: rub knees raw and swallow alot of water and generally get my asshanded to me the day of the swap meet. Big smile on my face though! 2 - Sandell tells me about lake Washington. Buy $10 pass. Try a move that I observed you do getting on the GO board (kinda swivel up with butt). Saves additional knee trauma. Able to uphaul sail but always fall off when mast gets near me. Still seems like progress to me though. 3 - Able to uphaul and handle the mast some. keep falling in when trying to sheet in. Last uphaul of the day I am able to grap some wind and take about a 50 yard ride back to shore. WOW! I was actually sailing there for a second. Am tempted to turn around and call in sick to work on the way out of Sportsmans Park. Reason gets the better of me. 4 - Nice windy day (for me anything over 10 is windy hehe). Head out to sportmans park and rig up my Terraboard sail (4.7M) and uphaul away. It seems like I completely forgot what I did to get the ride from last time out. After flopping around in the water for a while I see Chris, Mike (I think thats his name) and Jerry Sandell show up. It's funny, this is like extream wind to me and these guys are complaining that they can't water start. Everythings relative i guess :) Eventually Chris convinces me to rig up the Rushwind 6.5 that I got at the swap. I think it would be to much sail but Chris says that it might be easier to get some leverage/balance with. He is right! I get to ride a few hundred yards to and fro "YAHHOOOOing" all the way. Life is good! 5 - Wind is REALLY Blowing. I go out to sportsmans park and rig up the smallest sail I have. I can see the 'wind line' about 200 yards out from shore. I go out there and try to uphaul / waterstart in it for fun. The wind is blowing so hard that it catches under my board and blows the rig 10 ft. down wind. I'm glad I have my helment on heheh. I head down to Waconia cause I figgure there has to be some folks that can sail there. I find all the good sailers are having a blast there on sails from 3.5 to 5.0. Voita goes out there with a 5.6 or somthing and rips around. 6 - I ventrure out to sportsmans park again, this time alone. wind is from the west at about 5 - 15. I fugure if I can uphaul and stand on the board I could reach to the south shore, dismount and turn the board and repete. It worked! I made it arcross the lake and returned from where I started twice. Hey, 3 times is a charm ... right? Well, as I got to the south shore the darn wind started to pick up and shift more to the north. I tried to tack and fell into the water. I fell in again. I was starting to think "oh man, Im gonna have to sail really close to the wind to try to get back to the landing. I better not waste any more time playing in the water here". Long story short, I was able to get back to the norht shore but not where i started. I was thinking that I was going to have to do the walk of shame. I was tuckered out and had to go to work. WHAT FUN windsurfing is. 7 - He ha! I go out to Waconia to try it out again. I forget to bring a boom that works for my 6.5 meter sail so I have to use my 4.6 terraboard sail. I go out to the edge of the rocks and uphaul. Sail out to the middle of the lake, fall in and return to shore. I try this a couple time. Doug shows up but there is not enough wind for him to sail. We talk for a few hours then I take one more ride to the middle. As I derig someone shows up and sails a 9.5 meter sail. I see that he gets hooked into the harness and looks like he is having fun. the wind is under 15 and spotty.
